SFC Proctor was deployed to Iraq with his unit (325th INF REG, 82nd ABN DIV) Feb. 2003 and returned to Ft. Bragg Jan. 27, 2004. Below are some photos of that happy reunion (for which Your Soldier's Coming Home was anticipatedly written). The families arrived at Green Ramp on Pope Air Force Base, which is conjoined with Ft. Bragg (Pope puts the "air" in "airborne"!) around 2 am. The soldiers arrived around 8 am. Long wait, but the Army life is full of "hurry up and wait" scenarios. After a very long flight home for our soldiers, they greeted their families and then boarded a bus and a cattle car for the ride back to the unit. I was taken with, as I usually am, the uncomplaining attitude these soldiers have. They are very professional.
